Good-byes
This has been one of those weeks. On Tuesday evening, Heather called to let me know that she had gotten a call from the nursing home. Betty was not really responding and they thought that she had an infection and had sent a sample to the lab. I went over to see how she was doing and found her in pain. I tried to talk to her but did not feel she was responding to me. Finally, the nurses came in and changed her position and she seemed to calm down. The next morning, I was making cookies for Brogan and then thought I would go to see how she was doing. They had been told, that if there were any changes, please call. Michelle called to see what we had heard and said that she would call them and see if they had any labs back. She called me back and said that they said that Betty was in the stages of dying. What?? I left immediately and called Heather to come. Betty was in pain and the PA ordered pain meds for her. Through a series of events we finally got the information that she had a very high white cell count. They said that it was bad and that she wouldn't survive surgery. She got her first pain meds at about 9 pm. Michelle arrived at about midnight. She rested comfortably and at 3:10 am she had what I am sure was a joyous reunion with husband Bill and sons, Bill and David. They are all home now.
It was a week that I anticipate all of April. On April 27th my Mom had been gone for 10 years. On May 1st (today) 10 years ago, we buried her. Seventeen years ago today, David passed away and May 5th is the day we buried him. Now April 28th will be part of the April memory.
We are all traveling to New York for Betty's funeral. We will leave on May 8th. Her funeral will be held at St. Anne's in Nyack New York. We will spend a couple of days in New York and will all fly home on May 12th.
I have known Betty for 42 years. She was a good mother to her boys. She was the same age as I am now when Bill died. She has been alone for 32 years. She went into assisted living and then into the nursing home. One of the things that I admired about Betty was that if you asked how she was, she always said that she was fine. She was happy and accepting of her life. Many of the people who worked with her at the nursing home came in to say good-bye and express how much they loved her. They enjoyed taking care of her. She did not complain. She dealt with the lost of her husband and sons with dignity. I am certain that Heavenly Father is pleased with her on that account.
She will be missed.

A New Beginning
It has been quite a while since I have entered anything on my blog. This past week I was asked to give a class on Journaling. Why would they ask me? I am the worst about writing anything down. I remembered that Pres. Spencer W. Kimball had given some talks about journals and so I found the one I was looking for and read it. I have been very neglectful of important things. I told the sisters in the class that Sunday was a great time to review the week and write in your journal, life history etc. So in my effort to do the things that I have been admonished to do, I am taking my own best advice and in my effort to more fully keep the Sabbath day, I will be trying to write in my blog. I hope I will be able to keep this feeling of the importance of doing this simple thing. I know that I will be blessed by the Lord.
At the present time, I am a team teacher for the CTR 6 class. I have really enjoyed getting to know Melanie Nichols the other teacher. She is a good person who is separated from her husband and has a son that is 12 and a daughter that is 8. She has her children every other week and does not live in our ward. But to keep the kids active, she comes every week and tries to bring them with her. She has a sweet testimony of the gospel.
Each week there is something that the class does that we find humorous. This week I was giving a lesson on blessings from the Priesthood. There was a picture of a bottle of consecrated oil. I asked if anyone knew what the picture was. One girl said "wine". I wonder? Then we were playing a match game and she called it "constipated oil". We corrected her but had a really hard time keeping ourselves in control. We both wanted to laugh. Kids say the funniest things.

The Long Awaited Pictures
I went to Logan a couple of weeks ago for Ella's dance recital. Michelle used my camera to take pictures and then I took it home. She has been waiting to see some of the pictures. Here they are at last. These are some of my favorite. Enjoy!

Apology in Order
HB and Ethan came up to Idaho from Utah. HB wanted to watch Ethan hunt Easter eggs. She was going to be a little late for the Menan Hunt so I quickly put together a hunt for the grandkids at Cecelia's. Ethan was so fun, but did not get alot of eggs. He would get so excited to find something that he would just wave his hands and gasp while the other swooped in and snatched the goods.

It's Spring?
I know that I live in Idaho where I cannot expect the weather to be predictable but I was not prepared to see 2 inches of snow this morning at 10 am. I have flowers that I planted last year and was so excited to see how well they were doing this spring. I took pictures because I was so excited.
This is the same plant today.
Oh well, things were nice for the Saturday before Easter. Michelle, Ben, Ella, Grace and Felicity came to visit for the weekend. We had fun flying kites, visiting with Cecelia, going to the "Hannah Montana" movie and having an Easter Egg hunt at Cecelia's. It was a nice weekend.
